A couple of years ago, Wyndham program has added quite a few all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. Most of these look like run-of-the-mill properties and cost either 15k or 30k points per night for a double occupancy. That’s actually decent, especially during high season. The other day, a friend asked me about the cheapest all-inclusive resorts via points and naturally I thought of Wyndham.
I was surprised to discover that there is actually a resort in Jamaica that costs only 7.5k points per night, even during winter: Decameron Club Caribbean Runaway Bay Ramada All-inclusive Cash rate in high season is around $230 per night, making it a fantastic use of points.
It appears that most rooms are actually standalone cottages:
The website does say that connecting rooms are available, so this could be quite a deal for a family of four.
TripAdvisor reviews are somewhat mixed, but they are not terrible. The bottom line is, if this resort is mediocre (it likely is), you are still getting an air-conditioned room with a beachfront access, plus unlimited food. Is it worth taking a risk? Only you can answer that question. I’m tempted, but we have too many travel plans next year. Perhaps I’ll consider it for 2026 if the award rate doesn’t change. We are fairly simple people and my kids love all-inclusive resorts.
Obviously, you have to temper your expectations. The photos remind me of all-inclusive Holiday Inn resort where I took my family years ago. Our first time there was a bust, but second time was a charm. It was a lot of fun, and my kids still ask me to go back there. Sadly, it’s no longer a hot deal via IHG points.
My son enjoying his ice-cream (not much has changed since 2017)
If you are willing to pay more, there are other resorts in Jamaica for 15k points per night, which may be a bit nicer:
Keep in mind that Jamaica has a Level 3 travel warning, which does give me pause. We never felt unsafe there, and most resorts have armed guards. However, just because we didn’t have any issues doesn’t necessarily make it safe for families. Use your own discretion. You can see all Wyndham all-inclusive resorts listed on this page
How you can acquire Wyndham points
As Nancy wrote last Friday, three Wyndham Rewards credit cards have higher bonuses right now (although not the highest we’ve seen). Wyndham has over 9000 hotels worldwide.
Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card (non-affiliate link): Earn 75,000 bonus points after spending $2000 in the first 180 days. Those points can be used for up to 10 free hotel nights. Annual fee is $75, which includes 7500 points on your card anniversary.
Wyndham Rewards Earner Card (non-affiliate link): Earn 45,000 bonus points after spending $2000 on purchases in the first 180 days. Those points can be used for up to 6 free hotel nights. This card has no annual fee.
Wyndham Earner Business Card (non-affiliate link): Earn up to 80,000 bonus points. Earn 40,000 points after spending $4000 in the first 90 days. Earn an additional 40,000 points after spending a total of $15,000 within the first 12 months. Annual fee is $95. Receive 15,000 points on your card anniversary.
Also, now through October 21st you can buy points for less than a penny each, which could be worth it depending on your plans.
