July 10, 2025 By Leana 11 Comments

The image is a screenshot of a flight booking page from Alaska Airlines. It shows two flight options with a "Low fare alert" label.

1. The first option is a multiple-flight itinerary from MVD (Montevideo) to MIA (Miami) with a stop at GRU (São Paulo). The total travel time is 13 hours and 15 minutes, arriving the next day. The flights are operated by LATAM Airlines.

2. The second option is a multiple-flight itinerary from MVD to MIA with a stop at LIM (Lima). The total travel time is 13 hours and 45 minutes. The route is pending government approval and is operated by Latam Airlines Peru.

Both options are priced at 25,000 miles plus $98. There are buttons for "Details" and "Seats" for each option. The page also shows the Alaska Airlines logo and a "oneworld" logo at the top.

July 9, 2025 By Nancy 4 Comments

A person is standing on a rocky ledge, taking a photo of a stunning mountain landscape. The scene includes a clear blue lake surrounded by tall, rugged mountains with patches of snow. Pine trees line the shore, and the sky is clear and bright blue.

Last week, my husband and I got away for a childless vacation to Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. See my review of our 3-night stay at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. We tried to squeeze as much sight-seeing as we could into our 2 1/2 days in the park while trying to allow time for […]

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise: An Anniversary-Worthy Splurge

July 7, 2025 By Nancy 8 Comments

A scenic view of a turquoise lake surrounded by dense evergreen forests and mountains. In the distance, there is a large hotel or resort building near the lake's edge. The sky is overcast with clouds, and the landscape is lush and green.

Last week, my husband and I traveled to Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada for a kids-free trip to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We stayed at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, which was about a 2-hour drive from Calgary YYC airport. While our stay was not cheap, the hotel was totally worth the price for […]
