Royal Caribbean Announces “Perfect Day Mexico” Destination

October 10, 2024 By Nancy 7 Comments

Yesterday, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line announced the development of a new experience for cruisers called “Perfect Day Mexico.” This destination will complement “Perfect Day at CocoCay” private island experience that already exists in the Bahamas. I had a wonderful time at Perfect Day at CocoCay (see my post), and I’m looking forward to returning on my next Royal Caribbean cruise.

Perfect Day Mexico

Perfect Day Mexico is being developed at the port of Costa Maya, Mexico, with a targeted opening date in 2027. Royal Caribbean has acquired the port and purchased additional land. While it’s not a private island, the destination will only be for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruise guests. Perfect Day Mexico will be 220 acres, or double the size of Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Details of the destination are still being developed. However, Royal Caribbean states that Perfect Day Mexico will include a water park, pools, beaches, restaurants, bars, music and more. See the official press release here.

This is great news for cruise ships that leave from Galveston, Texas. Costa Maya is a shorter distance from Galveston compared to The Bahamas, and some current itineraries skip Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay private island altogether. Perfect Day Mexico will enable Western Caribbean itineraries to have an included private experience. I’m looking forward to checking it out in a few years.

Wow, this sounds incredible! The idea of **Perfect Day Mexico** being twice the size of **Perfect Day at CocoCay** already has me excited. With **220 acres** of space to explore, and knowing Royal Caribbean’s attention to detail, it’s bound to be a destination full of amazing experiences. I love that it’s exclusive to **Royal Caribbean** and **Celebrity guests**, making it feel more like a private escape, even though it’s not a private island. Plus, Costa Maya is already such a stunning location—it’ll be fantastic to see how they transform it into a new “Perfect Day” paradise. Can’t wait for 2027!

@Sara Yes, Royal Caribbean bought the entire port of Costa Maya. They will still allow other cruise ships to dock there, but only Royal and Celebrity guests can go into Perfect Day Mexico section.

@fit2ravels Have you been to Mexico? I’m had enough of Cozumel, but I’d love to return to Puerto Vallarta.
