Drumroll please….it’s Oklahoma! Yes, Oklahoma is getting a new $2 billion theme park that will be the same size as Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park. Say what???
American Heartland Theme Park and Resort
Yesterday, news broke about the new American Heartland Theme Park and Resort coming to Northeast Oklahoma near Vinita. That’s about a 5-hour drive from the DFW area. The park includes an RV park/campground that will open in 2025 and a theme park that will open in 2026.
The RV park will have cabins that can sleep up to five people (yay for large families!). The RV park will also have a dinner show, restaurant, game room, arcade, fitness center and pool.
American Heartland Theme Park will have 6 lands: Liberty Village, Great Plains (including a Charlotte’s Web Barnyard Adventure), Bayou Bay (with a swamp thrill ride), Big Timber Falls, Stony Point Harbor (with a Haunted Lighthouse ride!) and Electropolis (reminds me of Tomorrowland?) The theme park will also have a hotel next door with an indoor water park.
Mansion Entertainment Group is behind this new theme park, and several ex-Disney Imagineers are on the design team.
This is a very ambitious project. I really hope it comes to fruition as planned. Texas was supposed to get new theme park near the Houston area, but it seems that plans fell apart. Now, there is another potential plan to build a new TexasLand theme park. But, it’s still in the planning phase.

It’s interesting and somewhat close to Branson but I would have built it further South between Dallas and OKC for slightly better weather in the winter or shoulder seasons (maybe even less tornado potential) and much better metro area draw.
@DaninMCI Yes, the weather! We get less snow here in DFW than they get in NE Oklahoma.
Interesting. I’ve been hoping that Disney would build a couple more big parks in Texas and North Carolina since the existing parks are so drastically overcrowded. Maybe if this succeeds it’s provide the impetus for Disney to do so.
@Christian I’ve given up on Disney coming to the middle of the U.S. I just can’t figure out why they aren’t building this park in the North Texas area instead of Oklahoma.
