I write a lot about credit card sign-up bonuses on here. And I admit, that’s the main reason I love credit cards.
But, some of the other benefits of credit cards are really cool and useful, too. There is one credit card benefit that my family has used a lot during the pandemic: DoorDash!
Chase Extends DoorDash Benefits
Chase recently announced it extended the DoorDash DashPass benefits for Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Preferred card holders. With a free DashPass membership, you get access to free delivery from many restaurants on orders $12 and over (and grocery orders $25 and over). This DashPass benefit was extended through the end of 2024! (Normal price of DashPass membership is $9.99/month).
In addition, Chase Sapphire Reserve card members will receive a $5 monthly in-app credit from April 2022 through December 2024. This credit can be rolled over for up to three months for a $15 credit.
Chase Freedom and Chase Slate card members receive a 3-month DashPass membership, which is then auto-renewed for 9 months at a 50% discount. Select Chase co-branded cards (Southwest, Marriott, United, Disney, IHG, British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia and Hyatt) also receive a 12-month free DashPass membership.
Directions to enroll (per the Chase website):
How to Activate
- If you haven’t done so already, download the DoorDash or Caviar mobile app through Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Add your Chase Sapphire credit card information as the default payment method in the DoorDash or Caviar mobile app.
- In-app messaging will appear to prompt you to enroll in the complimentary subscription.
You can see all the FAQs about this Chase DoorDash benefit here.
Why We Love DoorDash
When the pandemic started, my family began a tradition of Wednesday night takeout/delivery. It was partly to support local restaurants and drivers, but also partly to add some excitement to our quarantine lives.
Even though we’re no longer confined to our house, we have kept this Wednesday night tradition. All of us look forward to Wednesday nights. Yes, we could get the takeout ourselves or just eat in a restaurant. But, with our kids’ activities during the week, the convenience of delivery is worthwhile.
Are you as excited about the extension of these DoorDash benefits as I am? Do you use food delivery services often?

Excitement level: Zero.
$5/month? Please. All the rollover means is something else to keep track of while I wait to get a modest “free” $15 off. This coupon clipping trend with “premium” cards is getting old.

I believe DOC posted a link recently, it took me right there. Could of been FM or MTM or DD.

Yes does anyone out there have the link to setting my card up for the free Door Dash Pass? PLEASE!
Nancy says
It’s very easy, and you don’t need a special link. Here are the directions from Chase:
How to Activate
If you haven’t done so already, download the DoorDash or Caviar mobile app through Apple App Store or Google Play.
Add your Chase Sapphire credit card information as the default payment method in the DoorDash or Caviar mobile app.*
In-app messaging will appear to prompt you to enroll in the complimentary subscription.

You can also do it from the DoorDash website here: https://www.doordash.com/consumer/payment/
Just enter your card and set it as the default payment method and it should happen automagically.
(Though for some reason when I re-entered my Sapphire, it shows a DashPass expiration date at the end of July 2022 – I’m not sure things have been entirely updated).

@Gump Input your eligible card as a payment method in the app, and the app recognizes it and does the rest. It’s been a while since I’ve done it.
