As most of you probably know, the offer on Citi Prestige is going to change tomorrow. But don’t worry, I’m not here to tell you to hurry and apply right now!!! Though you can if you really want to. I’m simply writing this post to give you heads up on what the new changes might look like.
For that, my friends, read this post on Doctor of Credit written by “doctor” Chuck (who else?) The only relevant piece of information for an average Joe is the change in minimum spending requirements. It looks like it will be $5,000 in 3 months instead of current $3,000 level.
A big deal? Only you can answer that question. For some, putting extra $2,000 on credit cards in 3 months is a walk in the park. For others, it’s a deal breaker. I write for normal people for whom, presumably, this new development would be a big deal.
To be clear, it’s very possible that online offer set to replace the current one, will look totally different. The bonus may be decreased, though I doubt it. I tend to think we will see the exact same offer as the one available currently in-branch, albeit with $450 annual fee. Remember, the reduced $350 fee is technically only available to CitiGold clients.
Anyway, I hope you found this update useful. As always, do what’s right for your unique situation. This change does not seem as bad to me as reduced points’ offer, but an increase in minimum spending requirements could be a problem for many.
What do you think?
