This past weekend, the D23 Disney Fan Event took place in Anaheim. Disney typically reveals new developments coming to parks and Disney Cruise Line at this event. I’ve learned to tamper my expectations, however, because not all past revelations have come to fruition.
Nonetheless, this year Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro spilled the beans on some exciting new projects. You can read about all of them here. While the list is long, three of these developments excite me more than others.
Disney Cruise Line Expansion
Disney Cruise Line will be getting 4 new cruise ships! This is in addition to the five current ships and the four already in the works, bringing the total number of ships up to 13 by 2031. This is exciting because I believe it will bring down the cost of sailing on the older ships. I’ve sailed on 5 cruise lines, and DCL still ranks as one of the top in my book.
Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
This new section of Animal Kingdom is set to open in 2027 and will feature an Indiana Jones ride (taking over the Dinosaur ride). The Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland in California is one of my all-time favorite rides, so I’m looking forward to this change. Tropical Americas will also feature an Encanto ride and a new carousel featuring animals from Disney stories.
Cars at the Magic Kingdom
My oldest son watched the Cars movie dozens and dozens of times when he was little (which means I have, too). We love Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park, so I’m excited that two new Cars rides will be added to Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom in Florida. And, the thrill ride will be different from the current Radiator Springs Racers ride.
Do any of the D23 announcements make you excited for future Disney trips?
