Update: It appears this offer is dead for most people. 🙁
Last year, Capital One launched its Premier Collection Hotels for Venture X cardholders in the Capital One travel portal. The concept is similar to American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts Program. Capital One Venture X cardholders and Venture X Business cardholders who book these upscale hotels through the Capital One travel portal get the following perks:
- Daily breakfast for two
- Potential room upgrade
- Early check-in and late check-out (if available)
- $100 experience credit (to use on food, spa, etc.)
- Free Wi-Fi
- 10X Capital One miles on booking
Quite honestly, I didn’t pay much attention to the program when it rolled out. My family has been using platforms like VRBO and Airbnb more often to stay in condos and houses. My husband and I also each own Hyatt and IHG credit cards that give us annual free night certificates.
But, this week, several bloggers mentioned a special $200 off offer for Venture X cardholders, and I had to see if I could make this great deal work for me.
$200 off Premier Collection Hotels
This deal is for Capital One Venture X cardholders only. Go into your Rewards section and then into the travel portal. You should see some “offers” at the top under Hotels (I had 12 offers):
The first offer was this one for $200 off a hotel stay at a Premier Collection Hotel:
The offer expires on December 31, 2023 OR EARLIER if the number of promo rooms is maxed out (there is limited inventory). So, I suggest looking today and not putting it off until late December.
The good thing about this promotion is that you just have to book before December 31, 2023, but the stays can be AFTER that date. Also, there is no minimum number of nights or minimum dollar amount. Sweet!
Where I’m using my $200 off deal (X2)
I have a lot of travel in 2024 when I could potentially use this hotel room discount. I first tried to find a good match in Lisbon, Portugal for the night before we fly back home. The cost of the hotels in this collection were quite steep, even with the $200 off for the night I needed.
So, I decided to focus on Chicago, which is where my daughter and I are positioning ourselves to fly nonstop to Lisbon. Sure enough, I found a hotel that’s just over $200, Pendry Chicago:
It gets great reviews, and it’s in an ideal location.
With taxes added, the cost is around $50 after the $200 offer is applied. But, that includes free breakfast for two plus a $100 experience credit we can use for dinner. The hotel has a rooftop dining area, indoor restaurant and room service. Plus, I’ll get 10X points on that $50 charge.
My husband also has the Venture X card. So, he was able to redeem the same offer for a second night for me and my daughter at the same hotel. I’m looking forward to checking out Pendry Chicago!
Final Thoughts
This $200 off offer is a great deal if you can find the location and price that works for you. My husband and I are keeping our Capital One Venture X cards because we love the perks. See this post for more info about the Capital One Venture X card.
Talchinsky says
Is this a good card to use to rent a car?
Nancy says
@Talchinsky Yes, it has primary auto rental collision damage waiver (CDW) coverage for rental cars, both in the United States and abroad with a few countries excluded (Jamaica, Ireland, Israel)
Brants says
Deal’s dead, Nancy.
HML says
Same here – 11 offers but no $200 off 🙁
Leana says
I have it in my account, but unfortunately won’t be able to use it. Nothing in Florida that makes sense, and I won’t schedule a flight just so I can utilize it. But a great deal for those who can take advantage of it.
Tom says
If other people still see it in their accounts, maybe it is because I have not used my $300 travel credit yet. That is just a guess – not sure. Thanks for the heads up about it tho – it is a great offer if it is in your account.
Albert says
The deal appears to be gone. Through December 31 or two days. Ha. Kind of a joke.
Tom says
I have 11 offers listed but none of them are the $200 off. Maybe they are used up now and they took it down. Would have been nice tho for my Feb stay in NYC.
Nancy says
@Tom Oh no! Keep checking, maybe it will come back up.
