The Citi Double Cash Card now has a $200 limited-time sign-up bonus! Let’s take a look:
Citi Double Cash Card
The Citi Double Cash Card is a no-annual-fee card that gives 2% cash back on all purchases.
- Earn $200 cash back after spending $1500 in the first six months
- Earn cash back TWICE–1% when you purchase, and 1% when you pay for those purchasaes
- Balance transfer offer: 0% on balance transfers for 18 months
This is a great sign-up bonus for folks who don’t put a lot of spending on credit cards.
Note: Citi will only approve you for one card every 8 days or two cards every 65 days. See Bank Application Rules You Need to Know.
If you are new to this travel hobby, there are a few other cards I’d recommend before this one (like the Citi Premier and the Capital One Venture Rewards) because their sign-up bonuses are worth more. However, Citi Double Cash is a great every day card for 2% earning.

This used to be my ‘go-to’ card for everyday non-bonused spend. However, Citi removed the extended warranty benefit from this card, which is a tragedy IMHO.
Any big purchase where I care about a warranty, I now use the Citi AT&T Access MasterCard (available when you downgrade a Citi card – no annual fee and it earns 2x Thank You Points on online purchases) or my Costco Visa. Citi has the best extended warranty benefit of the major card issuers – they add 24 mos. to the end of the manufacturer’s warranty OR any extended warranty plan that you purchase. Up to 7 years. So… if you buy a fridge with a 5-year extended warranty using your Citi AT&T Access or Citi Premier Card, that warranty magically becomes 7 years.
I have no idea why they removed the extended warranty benefit from Double Cash – it happened like 3 years ago during Citi’s Great Benefit Purge. BTW, Double Cash now earns TYPs that have to be converted to cash, there is no option to earn straight cash since March. See https://online.citi.com/US/JRS/portal/template.do?ID=double-cash

@Erik Thanks for the info. I’ve never paid attention to any card’s extended warranty benefit before, but I can see how that would come in handy.
