Air Tahiti Nui Flights Are Now Bookable with Alaska Miles

This is a quick post to let you know that you can now redeem Alaska Mileage Plan currency on Air Tahiti Nui flights (hat tip One mile at a time). This is an exciting development, for sure. And what makes it even more exciting are the relatively reasonable  award rates Alaska charges.

The same flights will cost you 40k miles in economy via AAdvantage program. I did a search for four people, and there is a lot of availability as long as you book far in advance. Business class will cost you only 60k miles, but it’s hard to come by.

I would recommend splurging on premium economy if your circumstances allow it. It’s a 9-hour flight, so the upcharge seems fairly reasonable. I’m not familiar with premium economy on Air Tahiti Nui, but the photos look nice. Most importantly, you will be getting a bigger seat with a footrest.

I like the fact that the flight from Seattle leaves during the day, which is always my preference. Of course, you won’t be able to leave for Bora Bora right away, since those flights don’t take place at night. But if you are going on a cruise from Papeete the following day, it’s ideal.

French Polynesia is one of my most favorite places in the world. It really is as good as the photos portray it. Maybe even better! So, if your budget can swing it, I highly recommend it.a woman standing on a ledge by a railing with a palm tree and a beach
