One Less Hoop to Jump Through for Vaccinated Travelers in Hawaii

April 13, 2021 By Nancy 1 Comment

Yesterday, Hawaii announced that travelers who are fully vaccinated from Covid-19 will soon be able to skip the mandatory 10-day quarantine/negative Covid test requirement. The governor of Hawaii signed an emergency proclamation making an exception for fully vaccinated travelers. Children under the age of 5 accompanied by someone who is exempt are also exempt from the requirements.

Vaccinated travelers will need to upload proof on the Safe Travels Program website or show proof upon arrival. The new proclamation is not yet in effect, as it still needs to be signed by the director of the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency.

I am personally excited about this new development, as my husband and I have plans to go to Hawaii later this year and we are both fully vaccinated. Recent studies show that the vaccines are not only preventing serious illness, but they are also curbing the spread of the virus.

Of course, for many families traveling with kids who are not yet eligible for the vaccine, quarantining or a negative test will still be necessary. But within the next few weeks, kids ages 12-15 will become eligible for the Pfizer vaccine.

Do you plan to visit Hawaii this year?
