Tomorrow, Southwest Airlines will extend its flight schedule through November 5, 2021. Currently, you can only book flights through August 16 departures. Unlike U.S. legacy airlines, Southwest doesn’t publish its flight schedule 11 months in advance. It usually releases dates 5-8 months in advance.
Does it make sense to book early? In most cases, yes. Southwest has the most generous cancellation and change policy. If you book flights with Southwest Rapid Reward points, you can cancel and your points will be redeposited in your account. If you pay with cash and you cancel, you can get a travel credit for the amount that is valid for a year from the time of booking.
The best way to earn Southwest Rapid Rewards points right now is through the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, which currently has a bonus of 80k points that can be transferred to Southwest. See this post for more details.
Is anyone booking flights tomorrow? Where are you going?

Thank you so very much for posting this alert! This is very helpful and appreciated!
I think I usually get the best prices when booking early. Now I will have to wait for the next block to open to book for Thanksgiving.
