This is a brief news recap from last week. For faster updates, follow Miles For Family on Twitter or check the feed on the right side of the blog.
1). Credit Card Bonuses: The Citi ThankYou Premier bonus of 50,000 points can still be found through this public, non-affiliate link. If you missed this card and you still want to go for it, now is your chance! Also, all three Southwest Airlines cards have links with 60,000 point bonuses. These links are higher than in our affiliate network. Although we don’t make commission off these links with higher bonuses, we still want our readers to get the maximum value from credit cards. H/T Doctor of Credit.
2). Get $200 gift card for booking $400+ travel on Upside Travel. See this post on Doctor of Credit for all the details. If you have a flight you need to book on cash, this could be an easy deal. Let us know if you are taking advantage of this promotion!
3). AA No Longer Offers Premium Seats for Full Fare Tickets by Flyertalk. This change happens on August 30, 2017. This is a bummer for those of us who occasionally book AAnytime award seats. My family booked AAnytime award seats for our flights back from Vancouver, and we thoroughly enjoyed our Main Cabin Extra seats. Darn it!
4). How to Create a British Airways Household Account by Traveling With Grant. My family has a household account, and we have used British Airways Avios for trips to Mexico as well as domestic flights. The Chase British Airways Visa Signature card currently offers 50,000 bonus points, and if you live near an AA hub these could be very useful.
5). Read about this Day Trip to Fire Island by Momma to Go. I’ve been obsessed with beaches on the East Coast ever since watching Season 1 of The Affair. My kids would love these towns!
6). Disney, my favorite subject! Which Walt Disney World Park to Skip on Short Trips by Trips With Tykes. My family no longer spends a week at the parks since we prefer Disney Cruise Line. We usually skip Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios. However, with all the new additions at Animal Kingdom, we might hit that park on our next visit.
7). The eclipse! Did you experience it on Monday? We were in the 75% path in Dallas, but even that was really neat. Check out Experience Totality: S&T’s Eclipse Stories by Sky and Telescope. My home will be in the totality path in 2024! I’d love to hear about your experience viewing the eclipse, and if you have plans to travel to see the next one.
Have a great weekend!
