I just saw some breaking news from Chip and Company: Disney is closing Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser permanently in September. Wow!
The final voyage will be September 28-30, 2023.
Disney’s statement: “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our Guests and recognize”d for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment. This premium experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our Guests and fans.”
I had recently posted about a 30% discount on this Star Wars experience with the Disney Visa. But even with that discount, the price of this 2-night space cruise was still very expensive at over $3000 for 2 people.
I’m curious if Disney will keep the bones of this hotel and turn it into a “regular” Star Wars hotel without all the role play and interaction that the Galactic Starcruiser experience has.
Are you surprised by this news?

It’s definitely for a targeted audience and some may not be able to afford it. Hopefully they do something else with it!
I’m not surprised, but I am surprised it happened this quickly. The price point was absolutely absurd. And while there’s no shortage of hotels with absurd price points, I can’t think of any with such a limited target market.
I can’t imagine Disney will just let this structure rot though. I’m thinking along similar lines as you that it will be transformed into a heavily themed hotel without all the role playing involved.
@projectx I’m also surprised it happened so quickly!
