Out of all credit card issuers, I hate dealing with Bank of America the most. Their website just isn’t user-friendly for an IT simpleton like myself. For example, I still haven’t figured out how to set up an AutoPay.
But my biggest pet peeve was having to call in order to cancel a credit card. I’ve tried sending a message and doing a chat, but always got a response than I needed to call. Once my husband had to spend 45 minutes on the phone because they wouldn’t let me take care of it on his behalf.
Needless to say, I was debating on whether he should apply for Alaska Air product issued by Bank of America. In the end, getting an easy 50k miles won, but I figured I would be in for a hissy fit when the card ends up on the chopping block (and it will).
Anyway, las year I got a BoA Premium Rewards credit card, and the fee was coming up in a week. So, I needed to cancel it. For some folks it’s a keeper, but not for me. I was dreading making a call, and decided to try the Chat option first, not having a lot of hope. To my delight, the rep said she could help me with the cancellation. I was done in literally one minute. Beautiful.
You have to log in to your account and click on specific credit card in order to see the chat icon on the right. Maybe this was common knowledge, but I wasn’t successful trying it in the past. I hope some of you will find this tip useful. I personally would rather watch funny cat videos on YouTube than spend 45 minutes on the phone with BoA rep.

I always hated this about BofA too. Glad they are finally keeping up with the times!
Leana says
@HML Yup, agreed. Hope this wasn’t a fluke.

Would they product change your card via chat too?
Leana says
CMH, I honestly don’t know. But it sure doesn’t hurt to try it!
