This past weekend, my family spent a night at Majestic Oak Treehouse inside Savannah’s Meadow located in Celeste, Texas. This was our third year in a row staying there, making it one of the few getaways we’ve repeated more than once.
Why do we keep coming back to the treehouse?
Floating Sky Lounge at Majestic Oak Treehouse
The Majestic Oak Treehouse has a “floating sky lounge” just outside the living room door. It’s the perfect place to read, nap or play.
It’s also a great place to share a family picnic. Nothing beats the peace and tranquility of the floating sky lounge.
Off-the-grid Fun
It takes a lot to pry my kids off technology these days. TV, video games and YouTube are their preferred entertainment choices.
But at Savannah’s Meadow, they get wrapped up in exploring the forest trails, visiting the animals and playing in the private pool and hot tub. We have a tradition of playing Uno right before bed.
Now admittedly I couldn’t pry my 14-year-old off technology 100% of the time (after all, he has a girlfriend he just has to talk to). But, he was technology-free much more than normal for a weekend.
Small Changes Each Year
The owners of Savannah’s Meadow make small changes and improvements each year during the off season. I follow them on Facebook to see the projects they complete.
This past year, they built a small treehouse replica for the chicken coop!
They also changed up the master bedroom, built a few bridges, got a new hot tub and added giant games to the silo area.
Privacy
“I wanna be the only one for miles and miles.” That’s my favorite line from the Dixie Chicks’ song “Cowboy Take Me Away.” When we’re at Savannah’s Meadow, that’s how we feel sometimes!
We live in the suburbs in a neighborhood where we can practically touch the next house when we stick our arms out of the window. It’s nice to spend time on an 18-acre farm where people are few and far between.
The past two years, there has been one more family staying at Savannah’s Meadow in the other treehouse on property. But we barely saw them, and when we did they were super friendly.
Plus, the Majestic Oak Treehouse is very secluded on the property. You can’t see the pool area or any of the treehouse from the road. It’s very private.
The Dog
My kids would tell you hands-down that the reason they want to keep coming back to the treehouse is because of the resident dog, Sam. My kids fell in love with him on our first visit. Throughout the year, the kids will ask us, “When can we see Sam again? I hope Sam is still there!”
Convenience
Savannah’s Meadow is less than an hour from our house in McKinney, Texas. My family is not great at road trips, but we can handle the 50-minute drive. I love that we have a special getaway that doesn’t drain us on the drive over.
Plus, the farm is close to a few small towns with restaurants. We’ve tried a local burger joint and a Mexican food restaurant before heading back home.
Bottom Line
My family plans to keep the tradition of staying at Majestic Oak Treehouse at Savannah’s Meadow once a year. Heck, I’d love to come here without my kids sometime if we can ever find childcare! It’s nice to look forward to a getaway in such a unique place.
Tip: The Majestic Oak Treehouse fills up very far in advance. Most weekends this year are already booked. Next year’s calendar is already available for booking.
