Now Might Be Your Last Chance to Get Wells Fargo Propel World Card

It’s yesterday’s news, but information is significant enough that I wanted to post a reminder. In case you haven’t seen this post on DoC, Wells Fargo Propel World card is being transitioned to “invitation only” product. Why should you care? The sign-up bonus, of course!

If you get approved, you can potentially get $400 (actual cash) plus $100 airline credit, redeemable toward award ticket taxes and possibly airline gift cards. At least, that’s the way it was back when I got it two years ago. Even if you can’t take advantage of airline credit, you’ll still be at least $400 richer. Check out my post with details on how I was able to redeem the points.

Here are the terms of the offer:

• Earn 40,000 bonus points with $3,000 in net purchases in the first 3 months.
• Earn 3X points on Airlines, 2X on Hotels, and 1X on other net purchases.
• Get up to $100 in reimbursements each year for qualifying incidental airline charges like airline lounges, baggage fees, and more.
• Get complimentary room upgrades and more through the Luxury Hotel Program.
• First annual fee is waived.

As you can see, minimum spending requirements are fairly manageable even for an average Joe. There are some  caveats, though. I actually had to fax my tax returns and make several phone calls before my application was approved. It was a serious nuisance, so be prepared. My husband’s application was approved on its own, so YMMV

If you had over to DoC post, there is a working link (for now), but it probably won’t be available much longer. Only you can decide if this offer is worth pursuing. It was to me, despite the headache. Note that the application says that you need an existing relationship with Wells Fargo in order to apply online. However, it appears that some have been able to get the card without it, while others got a denial in the mail (check the comments of this post). Once again, YMMV

If you happen to have an account with Wells Fargo, you shouldn’t have a problem with applying online. But hurry, it may not be available much longer! If you had this card before, you are eligible to get the bonus again as long as it’s been at least 16 months since you’ve applied for Propel.

From terms: “If you have opened a Wells Fargo credit card account within 16 months of this application you will not be eligible for the above introductory APR(s) and fees or any bonus rewards offers described below even if that account has been closed and has a zero balance.” I’m not certain if they mean just this specific product or any Wells Fargo card, so that’s something else to consider. Thanks to my reader Hilary for the reminder.
