1. Southwest will start flights to Costa Rica next Spring. New service will begin March 7, 2015 between Baltimore (BWI) and Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in San Jose, Costa Rica.
2. You can now register your Chase Freedom for bonus 5% in cash back on purchases at Amazon, Zappos and other select online stores for October-December period. Amazon would be your best bet, since it’s hard to find a decent discount on that particular retailer.
3. There was some further clarification on validity of IHG free nights that come from “Into the nights” promo. Apparently, they are supposed to be valid at any hotel. Still, I recommend you have some flexibility on dates and properties, if you plan to participate.
4. You can get a 100% bonus on purchasing IHG points through September 22nd. However, it probably makes no sense to do it if you plan to maximize “Into the nights” promotion.
5. Through October 15th, get a 50% bonus on points transfer from Membership Rewards to Virgin America. Normal transfer ratio is 200 Amex points = 100 Elevate points. Remember, you can redeem these points for flights on Virgin Atlantic and Hawaiian Airlines.
