How Many Miles and Points Do I Own? (End of 2025 Edition)

December 22, 2025 By Nancy 3 Comments

The past two years,  I have divulged my miles and points balances in a blog post (see my 2024 post and my April 2025 post). I’m constantly earning and burning miles, so my balances always fluctuate.  See Beginner’s Guide: 7 Steps to Free Travel with Miles and Points.

I recently opened some new credit cards, but at the same time I’ve booked some trips for 2026. How is my miles and points stash looking now?

My Current Miles and Points Balances

Flexible points: These are my favorite points to own since I can transfer them to multiple airlines and hotels. Most of our flexible points are in Chase, Capital One and Bilt. However, I will have some Citi ThankYou points coming my way after my welcome bonus for the Citi Strata Elite hits.

Total Flexible Points: 325,000 points (including upcoming Citi points)

Airline miles:  I’m sitting on a rather large chunk of Air France Flying Blue miles due to my unsuccessful transfer/booking with phantom award space (see this post). I’m sitting on some Alaska miles that I recently earned from a new credit card bonus. I also own some not-so-useful TAP Air Portugal miles that will be more difficult to use.

Total Airline Miles: 378,000 miles

Hotel Points: I don’t prioritize earning hotel points since my family of 5 prefers to stay in condo rentals when we travel all together. I still make good use out of our IHG and Hyatt free night certificates from our credit cards.

Total Hotel Points: 15,000 points

Total Points: 718,000 miles and points.

What am I going to do with all these miles and points?

I’m always planning the next trip!

  • I’m about to book my son and his friend flights to Thailand for late 2026
  • I need to book a few positioning flights for my upcoming summer trip to Thailand
  • Our 2027 travel plans are still TBD

I hope that 2026 brings some great credit card bonus offers. And then, the cycle of earning and redeeming starts all over again.

Thailand! Finalizing details for our trip to Hong Kong and Thailand next month (Bangkok, Chiang Mai and an island 45 min from Phuket by boat). Cathay Pacific nonstop DFW-HKG in J (Finnair Avios for the win).

Any advice on vehicle tours around Hong Kong since my wife is not keen on walking all those hills? Are taxis and Uber reasonable, etc.?

Quite an unexpected points and miles earning year. Jumped on Sapphire Biz 200k, Plat Biz 200k, Atmos Summit 100k and Strata Elite 100k (looking at AMEX Gold Biz 175k offer in my mailbox). Also got about 100k Rove Miles with some boutique hotel stays. Last time I applied for a credit card was in early 2024. Lots of spending going on new and old houses so lucked out with the timing in later 2025 with all those new cc offers. No may could have contemplated all that min spend.

@Peter Wow, biz class DFW to Hong Kong! What a great award redemption. I found Ubers to be very reasonable in Hong Kong. You’ve had a great year for earning miles and points, Congrats!

Minor correction – per the headline you don’t “own” any miles or points. Per their terms all remain the property of the airline/hotel/credit card company. They can be voided or otherwise changed at their sole discretion. You have them in your account but you don’t “own” them.
