This is a quick post to make you aware of an amazing deal you can currently snag in Orlando (even during high season). Lately, Choice program has been increasing award rates on its most popular properties. In addition, pricing on premium rooms and bigger units has also gone up. But stellar deals for families still exist, and here is just one such example: Bluegreen Vacations Fountains Resort in Orlando The best part is the fact that you can get a 3-bedroom unit with 2 bathrooms for only 20k Choice points per night, including winter holidays.
Cash rate in high season is over $320 per night, making this a great use of Choice points. Keep in mind that you do have to book at least two consecutive nights. The resort appears to have an excellent location close to Disney parks, and not too far from Universal Studios. In fact, I booked it with the idea of visiting the new Epic Universe, that is supposed to open in May. There are several pools and other family-friendly amenities. But of course, close proximity to Orlando amusement parks is the main selling point.
Keep in mind that there is a $28 per night resort fee that doesn’t appear to be waived when using points. But we can’t have everything, right? If they do waive it, consider it a bonus.
You can transfer Citi Thank You points to Choice program via 1:2 ratio, which is the best deal in town. If you don’t have a premium Citi credit card, you may want to consider purchasing Choice points since there is currently a 40% bonus offer through February 8th (not an affiliate link). If you maximize it, you will pay as little as 0.74 cents per point. It’s not dirt cheap, but would make for a good deal in the case of this particular property. I actually needed to top off my Choice account, and the purchased points posted instantly. YMMV
For me, having the extra room and an extra bathroom is super important when traveling with kids. I will take those two things over free breakfast or better views any day.
