My family loves having TSA PreCheck/Global Entry. We are so accustomed to the shorter/faster airport security lines that we’d really miss it if we didn’t have it.
In a few weeks, my family is splitting up to fly to Portugal. Two of us are flying on TAP Air Portugal, and two of us are flying on Iberia (using miles, of course). I’m starting to put together important travel info for my husband to have since he’s traveling without me, and he mentioned that he would arrive at the airport a bit later since he has TSA PreCheck and just carry-on bags. Wait, hold on a minute!
Check if your airline has TSA PreCheck
Not every airline flying out of the USA offers TSA PreCheck. That means even if you have TSA PreCheck/Global Entry, it won’t work on certain airlines. Your boarding pass must have TSA PreCheck on it. If not, you will have to go through the regular security line.
The TSA PreCheck website has a list of all participating airlines here. New airlines join the program every year. But, there are a few notable international airlines that are missing from this list:
- Aer Lingus
- Iberia
- PLAY Airlines
- EgyptAir
- China Eastern
- China Southern
So, my husband and son won’t be able to use the TSA PreCheck security lane when they fly on Iberia from DFW. However, they can make a reservation for a DFW Security Fast Past that is being tested in Terminal D (the international terminal).
Are you surprised by this list of airlines that don’t participate in TSA PreCheck?

When you are going to checking in your next flight then you have to read this article for some crucial instructions.

Thanks for the reminder. I knew about Lingus, since I’ve recently flown them. No idea why they’re not participating, esp. given the fact that you can do US immigration in Dublin.
Christian says
Maybe the immigration in Dublin is why Aer Lingus didn’t bother joining. Iberia is more puzzling and I’ve never even heard of PLAY.
Nancy says
@Bob Yes, Aer Lingus and Iberia not participating is puzzling to me. They both have flights from multiple US airports.
Brian says
Had no idea, thanks for the insight. Flying on Iberia out of Washington Dulles this summer for family vacation and would have walked up to TSA Precheck without even checking
Nancy says
@Brian Yeah, to me it’s weird that Iberia doesn’t participate, but maybe they will join in the future.
