Update: The bear has been captured.
I can’t even make this up! And no, it’s not April Fool’s Day.
Apparently, a real black bear has been spotted in a tree near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland. And no, this is not a Pooh bear or a bear from Country Bear Jamboree.
When the Magic Kingdom opened this morning, three lands were not accessible: Adventureland, Frontierland and Liberty Square. The following rides are now closed:
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Walt Disney World Railroad – Frontierland
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
- Jungle Cruise
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
- Swiss Family Treehouse
- The Hall of Presidents
- Haunted Mansion
- Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is working to relocate the bear. I’ll update this post when the rides are fully reopened and the park is back to normal.
Update: Disney reopened the closed areas around 1:00 p.m., although the search for the bear continues.

Seems they should have done more than just close a few rides
