A few weeks ago, my family stayed at the Hyatt Centric Murano Venice. It’s a Category 3 World of Hyatt property that costs 9000-15,000 points per night depending on the date. I used a credit card free night certificate for one room and paid cash (~$250) rate plus 6000 points for a Duplex Suite for my three kids.
Getting There from Venice Airport
Hyatt Centric Murano Venice has its own private shuttle boat that takes guests from the airport to the hotel. How cool is that? I had to reserve it in advance, but it’s free.
The hotel emailed me very specific instructions with photos on where to go to catch the boat shuttle. Basically, we just had to follow the signs at the airport with the blue boat:
Our boat driver was right on time. Another group had also reserved the boat, so it was full with 9 people plus all of our luggage.
The ride took around 20 minutes and was a bit choppy. I was glad that I took my seasickness medicine earlier.
The boat dropped us off in the canal in front of the hotel. The yellow covered building on the canal in front of the hotel is the public waterbus (vaporetto) stop.
This may be obvious from the name, but this hotel is actually located on the island of Murano, which is very close to Venice but not on the island of Venice itself. The waterbus stop in front of the hotel can take you to Venice in about 15 minutes.
There is a Coop grocery store a few doors down from the hotel with a delicious Gelateria across the alley. Several glass factories with shops were within walking distance (that’s what Murano is known for).
The hotel has some nice outdoor seating areas.
Checking In and Lobby Area
We arrived at the hotel around 1:00 p.m. Check-in was quick, and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Since there was a public transportation strike that day, the staff helped us understand how to work around the various closures to get into Venice.
Only one of our rooms was ready early (the room for 2 people), so we took all of our luggage to that room before we headed out to explore Venice.

The hallways outside of the rooms had beautiful glass decorations showcasing local handicrafts:
Our Rooms
My husband and I stayed in this standard room:
Of course, since it’s a Hyatt, the beds were super comfortable. The room has multiple USB ports, which was nice since we didn’t have to use an adapter to charge our phones.
Bathroom:
The Duplex Suite was perfect for our 3 kids. It had a single bed and a sofa on the first floor:
Stairs to the loft:
And the bed upstairs:
Our rooms were on the same floor just down the hall, so it was easy to coordinate with our kids.
Hotel Restaurant and Amenities
Hyatt Centric Murano Venice has a restaurant, 2 bars and room service. We did not use any of these, as we ate lunch and dinner in Venice and bought breakfast from the nearby grocery store.
The hotel also has a fitness center and sauna/steam room. We did not use these due to our limited time in the area.
Overall Thoughts
We enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Centric Murano Venice, and I recommend the hotel. As a Category 3 property, it’s a real bargain on points.
No, it’s not in the heart of Venice. You must take a waterbus to get to Venice’s main attractions. But, after experiencing the very crowded city streets of Venice, we were happy to get back to the peaceful canals and walkways of Murano at the end of the day.

Looks great!
We just stayed at the Aquarius hotel using choice points! Fabulous hotel with a great free breakfast and nice rooms. You can book triple and double rooms for the same amount of points! Great value. We loved the location because it was on the main island but away from San Marco craziness! About a 10 minute walk from the train station. Grocery store, gelato and restaurants next to the hotel. Located next to a nice piazza too.

@Tammie That sounds like a great find!

How easy was it to get into the boat for someone with difficulty with stairs – was there a step ladder like provided if one needed? Why was the water particularly choppy. Was there a storm?
Nancy says
@Sola As for the hotel boat, I think it would be difficult for someone who has difficulty with stairs. At boarding, the boat was bobbing due to the other boats going by. The driver did help us get in, but I can’t imagine my elderly in-laws doing it. The vaporetto, on the other hand, was easy to get on and off.

Our party of six stayed at the Hilton Stucky with a free shuttle to St. Marks Square. We had a grand time.
Nancy says
@Ellis Nice! That hotel was full when I tried to book it.

We were there the 1st weekend of May with another couple. When I checked in as a globalist, they offered me the bi-level suite, but I didn’t want the stairs, so they gave me a deluxe king room that wasn’t a suite. The room was very hot and I couldn’t figure out how to turn on air. When I asked they told they weren’t allowed to turn on air until mid May. The room had a sky light which made it hotter, so finally moved to 1st floor standard room and they gave me a fan. I wouldn’t have booked it had I known there was no air conditioning, because it was uncomfortable. I liked being in Murano and enjoyed their breakfast buffet as a globalist. At a Marriott in Bologna, we had same issue. They said no air the whole month of May. When we got to Rome on May 12th, at a clarion hotel, the air was on and wonderful!
Nancy says
@Lynn That’s such a bummer about the air conditioning! We noticed that the lobby didn’t have air, but our rooms did. This was the end of May.

Good review. Nice location. Stayed here alone for couple nights. They’ve upgraded me to the nice suite as a globalist benefit. Complimentary breakfast was very good as well. Hallway was kind of dark… thought… Their hotel staff was very attentive and good. Loved the Murano Island. nice and quite… very different from the Venice Island.
Nancy says
@Danny Lee Glad you had a good experience! I also loved how Murano was quiet and peaceful compared to Venice.
