Southwest has a special promotional Companion Pass offer for a limited time. Let’s look at the details.
Southwest Companion Pass After One Round-trip Flight
- Purchase a round-trip flight or two one-way flights by 4/5/23.
- Flights must be taken by 5/24/23.
- Companion flies free with you from 8/15/23 through 9/30/23!

So yes, this is a tight window. You have three days to book the flight(s), 3 weeks to travel, and only 6 weeks of the Companion Pass in the fall. But, if you are planning a trip during that late August/September timeframe, this deal could be worth it.
Unfortunately, flights booked with Southwest Rapid Rewards points do not count for this promotion. The fine print on the registration page also clarifies a few restrictions, such as:
- Flights booked before the April 3-5, 2023 window do not count towards the promo
- Any changes made to your flight that push it outside the promo window would disqualify you from the Companion Pass
I’m not going for this promo because of my travel schedule. But, if the timeline works for you, go for it!
