Last Day to Get 40% Off on Southwest Flights to Hawaii (Cash or Points)

I’ve already shared this deal on our Facebook page, but wanted to publish a quick reminder post as well.

So, if you have a flexible schedule and are able to travel to Hawaii between 1/6/2022 and 3/9/22, you can potentially score a pretty sweet deal. You have to book your Southwest flight by the end of this day and put in a promo code HAWAII2022 when doing a search.

The discount works on paid as well as points bookings. I would stick with the latter because you never know what kind of travel restrictions will be in place by January. If you use points, you can simply cancel the booking and get them re-deposited within seconds. No risk whatsoever. If you have an Ultimate Rewards earning card, you can transfer points to Southwest instantly. When you cancel a revenue flight, you will be stuck with a voucher, which is less than ideal.

Obviously, the eligible dates aren’t that useful for most families who have kids in school. Even so, if you fly during an MLK or President’s Day weekend, you can have yourself a nice three-night getaway. Naturally, this will only work for those who have access to direct flights to Hawaiian islands, mostly folks on the west coast.

I’ve found some great deals, like this nonstop flight from Lihue to Oakland for 4,700 Points, scheduled for Monday of President’s Day weekend. Obviously, that’s incredibly cheap. YMMV

Unfortunately, since we live in Florida, this isn’t something I can realistically take advantage of. My daughter is in Junior High, and we can’t let her miss too many days of school. Distance and logistics kill the deal, so to speak. And that’s a shame.

Hope some of you can take advantage of it!
