Update: Public offer has expired. See the latest best credit card deals here.
I really thought the last bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP) was the best offer we’d ever see (80k bonus points + $50 grocery credit). I was wrong! Yesterday, Chase increased the bonus to 100,000 points. Say what?!?!?
100k Bonus on Chase Sapphire Preferred
Here are all the details:
- Spend $4000 in the first three months, get 100k bonus points
- $95 annual fee not waived
- 2X points on travel and dining, 1X on all other purchases
- No foreign transaction fees
- Primary car rental insurance
Note: You cannot own this card if you own the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. You cannot get the bonus if you’ve received the bonus on the CSP or CSR card within the last 48 months. You will not be approved for the card if you’ve opened 5 or more new credit cards in the last 24 months. See here for more details.
What Can You Do With Those Points?
You can book travel through the Chase travel portal on almost any airline or hotel. Points are worth 1.25 cents a piece, so the bonus is worth $1250.
I usually prefer to transfer the points to United, Southwest or Hyatt. Those bonus points are enough for five nights at Hyatt Andaz Costa Rica. My family stayed there on points in early 2020, and we had a blast!
Through September 2021, you can also use the points to “pay yourself back” on purchases that include dining, grocery stores and home improvement stores.
I last got the bonus on this card in 2017 (when the bonus was just 50,000 points). Based on the 48-month rule, I am just now eligible to apply again. I plan to apply for this card soon, and I’ll let you know my results.
