There’s hope for my fall cruise yet! Disney Cruise Line just announced plans for a simulation cruise approved by the CDC.
The 2-day cruise on the Disney Dream will sail with volunteers on June 29, 2021. While I would love to be one of those volunteers, the cruise will most likely be filled with local Disney cast members. You can see the full DCL announcement here.
The purpose of the simulation cruise is to test new health and safety protocols geared to eliminate the risk of Covid-19. In order to sail, cruise lines either need to have 95% of the guests fully vaccinated OR sail with these extra health and safety protocols. Since Disney Cruise Line has many children on board not yet old enough for the vaccine, it makes sense that the company is preparing to test the new health and safety protocols.
I must admit, I’ve been on a roller coaster ride with all of these cruise updates. One minute I’m convinced cruising will take forever to come back, and the next minute I’m hopeful that cruising will restart soon.
My daughter and I are hoping to sail on the Disney Dream for her birthday this fall. This might really happen! While I am fully vaccinated, my daughter is not. However, she has no problem wearing her mask. She was a champ at wearing her mask at Disney and Universal this past week.
Fingers crossed all goes well on this simulation cruise!
