The first “big” U.S. cruise line just submitted plans to the CDC to resume cruising on July 4. Norwegian Cruise Line hopes to get CDC approval to begin sailing from U.S. ports this summer with 100% vaccinated people on board.
The plan calls for all guests and crew to be at least two-weeks past their final vaccination. The plan makes no exceptions for kids who are under the approved age for vaccinations. Honestly, I’m a bit shocked that unvaccinated kids will not be allowed on these cruises.
Capacity will be capped at 60% for the first month, but will increase by 20% every 30 days. NCL will be following its SailSAFE Health and Safety Program, which includes two mandatory Covid tests and mask-wearing indoors.
NCL plans to follow these guidelines through October 31. At that time, the company will make the determination if 100% vaccinated cruises are still necessary. Check out the full letter to the CDC here.
