New Star Wars Ride Opening Dates, Shady Marriott Cancellations, AAdvantage Sweet Spots and More

July 12, 2019 By Nancy 6 Comments

Pros and Cons to Airbnb Rentals: I read this article from Miles to Memories while I was traveling. It’s a great recap of the pros and cons of renting from Airbnb vs. staying at a traditional hotel. While I haven’t rented from Airbnb yet, I’ve had three successful rentals from VRBO. As a family of five, and especially now that my kids are getting older, we really need the extra space that a condo or house provides. Of course, this means that we have to shell out cash instead of using points.

Shady Marriott Cancellations: Andy from Andy’s Travel Blog wrote about some shady cancellations that Marriott is doing surrounding a college football game. Blame it on the software if you will, but I think the right thing to do is honor the reservations that were placed from oldest to newest. What do you think?

AAdvantage Sweet Spots: I found this article on The Lazy Traveler’s Handbook via DoC. I just burned through all of my AA miles on my recent trip to Australia and New Zealand, but I hope to accumulate more in a couple of years because I’ve found them very useful. My favorite line from this post: “I don’t fly just to be pampered in a metal tube.”

Star Wars Rise of the Resistance Ride to open in December and January: While Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at both Disney World and Disneyland, only one ride (Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run) is currently open. Everyone has been waiting on the edge of their seats (haven’t we all?!?!) for the second ride to open. Disney just announced that Rise of the Resistance will open on December 5, 2019 at Disney World and on January 17, 2020 at Disneyland. If you’re looking for spoilers on the ride, check out this article.

Renewing Global Entry: Grant from Travel with Grant has a good reference page for renewing Global Entry. My husband and I need to do this soon. On our recent trip, we had to go through regular security lines in Australia and New Zealand since they don’t have TSA Precheck benefits, and it was painful.

Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you for the share Nancy. Airbnb was an experience for sure but I had a pretty unique one for my first booking 🙂

@projectx I’m not even a huge Star Wars fan, but I’m excited about this one. It looks larger than life!
