Guys, I wanted to share my latest find with you, though it’s possible that it was already covered on another blog. The other day I was browsing Hilton site and came across Baker’s Cay Resort Key Largo, Curio Collection by Hilton
This is a former Hilton Key Largo Resort property that was closed for over a year due to damage from the hurricane Irma. It has recently reopened (under a new, fancier name) as part of Curio collection. So far, the reviews on TripAdvisor have been excellent. The current rate of 60,000 Hilton points per night in the prime spot of Key Largo isn’t outrageous during high season, especially for a beachfront property.
Those who travel with kids will be happy to know that right now you can book a junior suite for the same amount of points as a regular room:
I haven’t found any pictures, but came across this description on the website:
I actually called the property, and the reception lady said that bedroom does have a door, though it’s possible she was talking about the more expensive suite. Plus, at 320 square feet, you aren’t going to have a ton of room regardless. Still, I feel it’s a good enough deal to mention on the blog, hence this post.
Keep in mind that the resort requires a 5-night stay over New Year’s holidays. Otherwise, award availability is wide open until you put in 4 nights. Of course, if you have a Silver or Gold Hilton status, you will get 5th night free, so might as well stay an extra day.
Personally, I love Florida Keys, and highly recommend it for a family vacation. See my trip report from few years ago. I’ve been looking for an excuse to go back, so I’m quite tempted to reserve a 2-night stay at this Hilton resort. Paying 60,000 Hilton points per night isn’t exactly a bargain, but the remodeled property looks stunning.
The lady at the front desk also mentioned that they have complimentary beach activities for kids. Self-parking is free and resort fee is waived when you are staying on points. If you have Gold or Diamond status, you will get free breakfast for up to two adults per room, and kid’s buffet costs $10. So, all in all, a solid deal IMO, but only if you are planning to travel during holidays or spring break.
If you insist on having two bedrooms, I can sort of recommend Ocean Pointe Suites at Key Largo Just make sure to book deluxe (aka newly remodeled) unit. You have been warned!
If you are looking to acquire Hilton points, you may want to consider applying for Hilton Amex Ascend or Aspire cards, since the current sign-up bonuses are at an all-time-high.
Heads up! Through 8/28/2019 you can get 130k Hilton points+free weekend night on Amex Hilton Surpass after spending $4,000 in 4 months (annual fee of $95 is not waived). The current signup bonus flavor IMO is the best it’s ever been. My personal referral link (I will get 20k Hilton points if you get approved).
Anyone has stayed at this property since it reopened?
