No worries, I’m not looking to have an affair or anything like that! So, here is the deal. While I have nothing against various miles and points conventions, they cost a considerable amount of money to attend. Not to mention, they take up a lot of time, and I’m already a busy mom.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to meet our readers IRL. I’m not always able to, unfortunately, because our family travel schedule is usually packed. That said, at the end of next month, I plan to stay three nights in New Jersey area. One of my long-time readers has asked me if we could meet, and I was happy to oblige. But then we started thinking: why not turn it into a reader meet-up instead, and invite others to join us?
So, that’s what the post is about. Originally, I planned to organize it on the weekend. Unfortunately, Spirit has changed my flight and we will be landing in Newark airport quite late. So, the only day I can do it is on Monday. I know it’s tougher to make it compared to weekend, but that’s the only time I’m able to break away from my family. Sorry! On to the details.
Where: Candlewyck Diner, located at179 PATERSON AVENUE, EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ, 07073(201) 933-4446
When: Monday, October 30th. I’m thinking 7:00 PM, so it wouldn’t be too late for dinner. BTW, the prices at this place are fairly reasonable, which was the determining factor in picking that specific location. The menu has just about anything you can think of, which is another plus. Hopefully, it’s not “Jack of all trades”…and you know the rest.
Who is invited: Anybody who wants to come. Status or no status, making six figures or minimum wage, travel every week or once per year, I DON’T CARE. You don’t even have to like my blog. My only two requests are: no profanity or politics discussions. Let’s make it into a fun gathering of miles and points fanatics, regardless of affiliation. Also, if you can’t find a babysitter, bring the kids with you.
Cost: $0, other than the cost of dinner.
To be clear, you absolutely are NOT expected to attend just because you follow this blog. I know some of our readers live in New Jersey area and we regularly communicate via email. Guys, if you are busy that day or simply don’t want to come, I understand. It’s cool, I promise.
In fact, please don’t rearrange your life in order to attend this meet-up. I’m just a regular gal. I drive a minivan and wear stretchy pants (usually). In other words, I am a quintessential lame mom. Sure, I dream of Tahiti and all, but it’s mostly because I’m bored. I’m hoping there will be some interesting readers with cool stories to tell, in order to make up for my lameness.
Anyway, if you do want to come, please comment on this post or email me. If enough people are interested, I may have to contact the diner in order to reserve a few tables. Hope to see you in New Jersey!

Audrey says
Leana, your kids won’t be attending?
Leana says
@Audrey I’m not sure yet. They are kind of loud, so it may be hard to talk to other people. But I’m not ruling it out. It will depend on the circumstances. You are definitely welcome to bring yours, though!
Uri says
Wish that I could attend… Have a fun meeting..
Leana says
@Uri I hope to meet you one day as well!
Michelle says
Come visit us in New Hampshire sometime! Have a great meet up in NJ!
Leana says
@Michelle Thanks. I hope to come to New Hampshire as well!
Momma To Go says
Im probably two hours from here! and I do love a good diner, but I will have to wait until you are closer in the NYC area!
Leana says
No worries at all! I would never expect someone to drive two hours just to meet me. Hopefully, our paths will cross someday.
