I know it’s not miles and points related, but I just have to do a post on it, y’all! So, about the snake… Not a metaphor. Yesterday, I was going about my business of being a stay-at-home mom, namely, the kids were on iPads and I was working on the blog.
Anyway, I went into the kitchen to get a drink and there it was: my slithery, uninvited guest curled up by the dishwasher. It wasn’t that small either. I almost went into a full “freak out” mode, but I remembered that I had kids nearby. If they came and saw the snake, the creature could possibly get scared and crawl into a crevice in the building. It would make it much harder to extract the thing.
So, I had to kill it. But how? I will spare you the gory details of the murder, but will say that the weapon of choice was a child-size shoe. The snake did not die peacefully, poor thing. Afterwards, I quietly disposed of the body. Throughout the whole thing, my kids had no clue what was happening. I love iPads, best babysitters ever!
When all was said and done, I had two thoughts:
1) Did the snake travel inside of my house with a friend?
2) How soon can we move to a snake-free state?
I’m still a little terrified and look around the corner when going into the kitchen. Can you imagine if the snake managed to get into our bedroom and I would accidentally step on it at night? When I called my husband to tell him about the incident, he was freaked out too. His words: “Boy, I’m glad you are the one who found the snake. I don’t know if I could have killed it.” Wait, what?
Men.

I would have screamed and panicked for sure! My next-door neighbor found a snake in her toilet. Eeeek!

@Shoesinks Actually, I’m surprised that I didn’t scream. On a separate note, I guess Texas is out from the list of possible candidate states for us to move to! 🙂

I’ve found two in my house. And my sister has found more than one in her house and garage in the last week. Must be something in Florida going on right now. Time to move!

@Jennifer Wow! This is the first time I found one inside. They are on the move. Maybe we should move as well!

I’m equal parts disgusted and amused and impressed. Give yourself credit on multiple levels…if that had been me I would have screamed, grabbed my kids and spent the rest of the day in the car.

Julie, it was disgusting and scary! I think I might need therapy to get over the whole thing. I’m not even sure if the snake was poisonous. I hope not!
Normally, I’m a total chicken when it comes to stuff like that. But I had to get rid of it somehow and try to stay calm.
