Make Sure to Charge Something on Your Club Carlson Visa the Month your Annual Fee Hits!

April 7, 2016 By Leana 3 Comments

This is really more of a PSA than a post. It’s something you may already know, but I personally wasn’t aware of. Few days ago, I wrote a post on why I decided to renew our co-branded Club Carlson credit cards. I also mentioned that for some reason, my husband’s 40,000 points have been in “pending” status for over two months. A mystery indeed. Well, I just got a response from US Bank (click on the screenshot to make it bigger):

Interestingly, the terms of the credit card indicate that you simply have to make (at least) minimum payment during the month when annual fee hits:

Since I paid my husband’s $75 fee in-full the same month it was posted, I assumed that would be sufficient. Wrong! I have a Netflix recurring charge on my credit card which is why I got my points within a month. So, if you are planning on renewing your US Bank Club Carlson Signature Visa, make sure you have a small charge posted on the same statement. Amazon $1 gift card will do.

This hobby can sure be confusing at times, which is why it’s good to follow up on things rather than waiting needlessly and hoping for the best. Well, that’s all for today, folks!

Wow, that is good to know, I never would have charged anything on it probably.

@HML Glad it was helpful! I don’t know why some banks make it so confusing.
