1) A super easy way to pick up $100 bonus in exchange for parking $100 for 6 months in a Northpointe bank checking account. There are no fees, no hoops to jump through, so just go for it! It took me 5 minutes to fill out application, though I did have to click on “submit” a few times during the process. But it looks like I’m good to go. This offer expires today at 11:59 ET. Just make sure not to forget about this account.
2) Really good analysis of new Jet Blue credit card products on Lazytravelers.net I was planning to do some research, but looks like there is no need now. Basically, this is a niche offer which will be of interest to those who like to fly Jet Blue or have decent coverage form their home airport. You can potentially get two roundtrip tickets to Caribbean out of this sign-up bonus (30,000 points). A nice thing about Jet Blue is that there are no blackout dates on award seats and they use revenue system similar to Southwest. You can also pull points with family members, a nice perk. This offer doesn’t pay me referral, in case you are wondering. Barclaycard is on a roll lately, so good luck with picking a sign-up bonus to chase after.
3) An interesting post on Miles to Memories about challenges of booking suitable lodging for a family of four during his upcoming European trip. A good reminder that chain hotels are not always the best option. Definitely take a look if you are planning something similar. As always, do what works for you. If you want to stay at Hyatt Vendome in Paris and burn an obscene amount of points on two rooms, go for it. And no, I’m not being sarcastic. But yes, I’m hoping you won’t do it!

I know. I was thinking that it’s better than our current checking, but I probably can’t talk my husband into changing all of our automatic deposits and automatic bill pays to a different checking account. It would be a hassle.

I totally get it. It does look like there are workarounds for direct deposit, but yeah, some hassle will be involved in making sure you’ll get 5% rate.

Thanks for the bank bonus tip. 🙂

Jennifer, no problem! Super easy $100, assuming everything goes as planned. It’s actually a pretty decent account for everyday banking because you can potentially earn 5% with some work.
