- An update to an update: Got an email form Hyatt that my husband was upgraded to Diamond status. I’ve sent a screenshot of IHG Platinum status that showed several stays at IHG, all via points. Hooray! An update: Looks like I was late to the party. They only offered me Platinum status, which I already happen to have via Hyatt credit card. Oh well.. Onto the next one. This deal falls into a category of “smokin’ hot” and probably won’t be alive for long. You may be able to get a free Hyatt Diamond status if you have elite status with another hotel program (plus 1 hotel stay). I have IHG Platinum via co-branded credit card which may or may not qualify. Here is the post with details. Hurry! Even if you have no planned Hyatt stays, get it anyway since the status comes with free breakfast benefit (and other perks). You never know if it might come in handy in the future. I’ve sent a Twitter DM to Hyatt Concierge, and will update with results. Let me know in the comments how this works out for you!
2. Nice discounts on Olive Garden and Ruby Tuesday gift cards via Amex offers. I’m in! It just shows you why everyone should have at least one American Express card.
3. As you probably know, the sign-up bonuses on Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Freedom have been increased. Now, you can use your personal referral link (here is the form) if you happen to have one of these cards and want your friends to apply, which would give you 5,000 points. Both cards pay me referral. Be aware, Chase Freedom currently offers 17,500 points, but the bonus is increased to 22,500 points now and again. The offer on CSP is as good as it gets, and if you are new to this hobby, definitely consider it. Read more on it here and don’t hesitate to email me with questions.

I was notified that I got Hyatt Diamond status this morning! I’m in shock! I had Hilton Gold (through a credit card) that is expiring in a few months).

@Shoesinks Wow! That is incredible. Congratulations!!!! You had better luck than me. This status will pay off big time when you stay at that resort you’ve mentioned. Very happy for you, if a little jealous!:)

Your blog post was the only reason I tried doing this, so thanks! I keep waiting for Hyatt to change its mind. I’m looking forward to the free food at the lounge at that resort this summer, LOL. I’m just in it for the food.

Oh, that makes me very happy! I actually had to be somewhere that day, but postponed it because I just had to write a short post on Hyatt status bonanza. I don’t specialize in covering hot deals but if I can, I certainly try to mention a special/time sensitive offer.
So glad this worked out for you! With 5 in the family, you can certainly use this benefit. I don’t think Hyatt will take it away at this point, but I would save a screenshot where it says “Diamond” just in case. You never know, but Hyatt isn’t known for “switch and bait” type stuff.

Shoesinks, another update! My husband was upgraded to Diamond via email from Hyatt. They want me to send in more info for my account, so I don’t know if I’ll have the same luck. The Hyatt booking is in my name, so I’m not sure how this new development will play out. But I’m very excited, to say the least!
