An update: there may be an offer for Chase Sapphire Preferred, that gives up to 55000 points after 3000 in spending. I am not certain it will work, but worth a shot. It does not pay me commission. LINK to post with details.
First, I would like to apologize for the lack of posts this week. I assure you, I scheduled them to appear, but WordPress (my blogging platform) decided to play a cruel practical joke on me. Why didn’t I go with blogger.com instead? Alas, I am back from my trip and ready to create some controversy. But not today. Here are a couple of newsworthy items for you:
1) As I said in my last week’s post, the merger between US Airways and American Airlines has been approved. Which is why I made US Airways visa bonus my top pick. Look in “Best deals” for more.
2) Chase Freedom’s sign-up bonus is increased to 20000 points, up from the usual 10000. The bonus is good for 200 dollar statement credit after you spend 500 dollars in first 3 months. Its a solid card to get to establish relationship with Chase, though there are better bonuses available. It gives me commission if you apply through my site.
3) Discover IT card sign-up bonus is increased to 150 dollars after you spend 750 dollars in the first 3 months. This is actually a pretty good “keeper” card as well, similar to Chase Freedom, though its not accepted everywhere. You get 5 percent back in rotating categories each quarter on up to 1500 dollars. This offer pays me commission if you apply through my site.
4) You can get an extra 5000 ultimate rewards points on your Chase Sapphire Preferred card, when you add an authorized user within the first 3 months of your card approval. This offer pays me commission.
