This is the only deal, that intrigued me in the Dailygetaways , the special promotion in the points world, that runs every year. I knew, the packages would be popular, but somehow managed to snag 2 of 36000 packages, for around 140 each , with Amex card discount. I did it for two reasons.
We are planning to visit family, who lives a few hours away, and there is a nice Choice hotel for 12000 points per night in their area. It would be around 47 dollars per night through this deal, and that includes tax. That’s a very good price to me for a Quality inn hotel with good reviews. Sure, its no Hyatt, but they don’t have a Hyatt, where our relatives live, anyway. As long as reviews are good, and I don’t see the word “bedbugs” anywhere, I’m fine (when I see the review , that indicates that, I move on immediately, better safe, than sorry).
But there is another reason I bought this deal: transfer to Southwest. I figured, if the hotel thing does not work out due to devaluation, we have a plan B, to get Southwest Rapid Rewards for 1.25 cents each, which is a decent price. I very rarely buy points, but it makes sense sometimes. I think this deal is very good for a family on a budget, who likes to stay in simple hotels. I suggest, you keep an eye on it next year. If I am still blogging at the time, I will be sure to feature it.
