Visiting Guatemala’s Hobbitenango: Bizarre and Beautiful

October 21, 2025 By Nancy Leave a Comment

A large sculpture of a hand extends outward, appearing to emerge from the landscape. It is covered in moss or a similar green texture. The background features a scenic view of mountains partially obscured by clouds, with lush greenery in the foreground. The sky is mostly cloudy with patches of blue.

On my recent trip to Guatemala, my daughter and I visited Hobbitenango, a Lord of the Rings themed attraction in the mountains above Antigua. October 16, 2025 By Nancy Leave a Comment

A vibrant street scene in a colorful village. The ground is painted with intricate, multicolored designs, including a large face and heart motif. The walls of the buildings are adorned with murals, including images of birds and geometric patterns. Overhead, strings of colorful hats are suspended, adding to the festive atmosphere. People in traditional clothing are walking along the street, and lush green mountains are visible in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

My daughter and I just returned from a trip to Guatemala. This was technically my 4th time visiting Guatemala, but it had been over 30 years since my last visit. Traveling in Guatemala is always an adventure! But, I don’t recommend it to everyone. Pros of Visiting Guatemala Scenery: Guatemala is a beautiful country! It […]
