Time to Switch my Priority Pass Account

January 28, 2026 By Nancy 1 Comment

I’ve been spoiled with the Capital One Venture X benefits these past few years. The card has allowed my family of 5 to enjoy the Capital One Lounge at DFW many times before our flights (two cardholders plus one authorized user and 2 free guests). Plus, my Priority Pass account through my Venture X card enabled me to bring two guests into Priority Pass lounges for free. Almost every trip we’ve taken has included free food and drinks plus better seating at airport lounges.

However, all good things must come to an end. In just a few days, the Capital One Venture X lounge benefits are changing.

Capital One Venture X Lounge Access Changes

Starting February 1, 2026, changes to lounge access include:

  • Cardholders will no longer get free guest access into the Capital One lounges. Guests will cost $45 for adults, $25 for kids ages 17 and under (unless you spend $75k on the card each calendar year)
  • Authorized card users will not get free access to Capital One lounges unless they pay $125/year
  • Cardholders will no longer get 2 free guests with Priority Pass membership. Guests will cost $35. Note: Venture X Business cardholders still get 2 free guests with Priority pass membership.

Since I rarely travel solo, these changes are a big bummer! In most cases, I wouldn’t pay extra for my family members to enter a lounge. But when it’s free, we take advantage.

The good news is that my husband and I each have other credit cards with Priority Pass membership that still allow guest access. My husband has the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, and I have the Citi Strata Elite card. We just need to re-enroll in Priority Pass through those accounts.

I admit, I will miss the Capital One Lounge at DFW. But I definitely won’t be paying $45 for my kids to go inside.

Will you be switching your Priority Pass to a different account this week?

Does a Priority Pass obtained through AMEX Platinum personal card have any guest advantages?
