Best Uses of Bilt Cash For My Situation

January 22, 2026 By Nancy 4 Comments

After a confusing rollout of Bilt 2.0, I bit the bullet and applied for the Bilt Palladium card. In a nutshell:

  • 50,000 bonus points, $300 in Bilt Cash + Gold Status after spending $4000 in first 3 months
  • $200 in Bilt Cash annually
  • 2X points plus 4% Bilt Cash on everyday spend
  • $400 Bilt Hotel credit ($200 twice/year), 2-night minimum
  • $495 annual fee

Yesterday, Bilt announced details of how you can spend Bilt Cash (new currency that comes with the new Bilt 2.0 credit cards). Admittedly, I’m a bit disappointed.

Why I’m Disappointed

This is like the ultimate coupon book, with some category caps at $5/month. What a pain!

Many of the spending categories are hard to use where I live (especially Blade). While Blade does fly out of DFW, I can only find private charter flights for $12k. But my biggest disappointment is using Bilt Cash for hotel credits, which is capped at $100/month for Gold Status with a minimum 2-night stay.

For me, the best uses of Bilt Cash appear to be:

  • Using Bilt Cash to unlock a higher Rent Day transfer bonus (but that will depend on the transfer)
  • Stacking the card’s $200 hotel credit with a monthly $100 Bilt Cash redemption for a $300 hotel credit for a 2-night stay (hopefully we can stack these???)
  • Using $200 Bilt Cash as a point accelerator for 3X on every day spend (up to $5000)

Readers, what do you think of these Bilt Cash options?

None. I’ve been a Bilt cardholder for a couple years but I am 100% out. What a confusing, annoying, and unappealing card roll-out this has been.

Seems like the points accelerator is basically paying 4 “Bilt Cash cents” per point (if you are able to organically max it out) as opposed to paying 3 “Bilt Cash cents” per point when paying mortgage/rent.

Not the worst use if you have extra Bilt Cash to burn, but I prefer some of the other options.

My priority list is probably something like this…

    1. $25/mo for Bilt Dining (moderately useful, dollar for dollar, seems to be several places nearby if all dining locations work)
    2. $100/mo for hotel credit, only if it stacks with the $200 hotel credit, and I can only do it those months. Then it’s closer to “dollar-for-dollar” value
    3. If a use-case pops up, the higher transfer bonuses
    4. Earning points on my mortgage (basically paying 3 “Bilt Cash cents” per point)

If I have more to burn after that…

    5. Lyft rideshare credits for months I know I’ll use them
    6. $100/yr Blacklane credit (use for one airport ride a year, about $150 looks like, so only $50ish after credit for a nice ride, compared to an $80ish uber/Lyft)
    7. Maybe the $10 Walgreens credit? Seems like a bit of a chore, but I could probably use it
    8. Point accelerator late in the year if I have more Bilt Cash to burn. I have large work spend that comes up then, so I know I could hit a few of those bonuses.

The rest of the credits seem completely worthless to me. I may keep tabs on the Comedy Experiences, but I don’t think $50 off there will be that appealing.

I wanted to like this card so I could earn points paying my mortgage but it’s so confusing.

It’s a headache just to read all of these (mostly nonsense) “coupon-ads” credits! Such a mess. My guess is Bilt took a lot of money from several advertisers and spending portion of it as a promos for Bilt customers. Good for Bilt – bad for users (as most of those promos will go unused).

For me, I see an almost clean return of your $495 fee:
    – $200+$200 hotel credits, up to $300 value (depending what booking portal Bilt uses)
    – Priority Pass, $100-150 value (how many times you gonna use it when flying Economy?)
    – $200 Bilt cash – maybe $100 value.
So it’s about breaking even, after your sign-up bonus no longer in play.

Card looks on par with Chase Reserve, hence lower fee but stranger redemption.
Not wanting to apply anytime soon. Maybe for better bonus once available…
