Easier Said Than Done: Double Stacking CSR Hotel Credits

January 9, 2026 By Nancy 2 Comments

In Monday’s recap post, I shared this article from Danny the Deal Guru about the new $250 hotel credit on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and how it can be double-stacked with The Edit hotel credit. In short, if you own the CSR, you can get a $250 hotel credit for hotel stays booked through the Chase Travel portal with the following brands:

  • IHG® Hotels & Resorts
  • Montage Hotels & Resorts
  • Pendry Hotels & Resorts
  • Omni Hotels & Resorts
  • Virgin Hotels
  • Minor Hotels
  • Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts

You can stack this with the $500 yearly credit at The Edit hotel group ($250 per stay), which you must also book through the Chase portal. The blog post above lists some hotels that qualify for both groups. So essentially, you could get $500 credit for a hotel stay. Sounds great, right?

Making the Math Work

I love deals like this. And, even though my travel calendar for 2026 is already full, I’ve been looking for a way to take advantage of this double stack through one of my existing trips or with a new staycation or more local trip.

I’m running into two issues:

  • To earn the credits, hotel stays must be 2 nights or longer
  • The cost of hotels in The Edit list isn’t enough for me to even justify the $500 double-stacked credit

My first thought was to make these credits work for my summer trip to Thailand. The one hotel that coincided with my itinerary that qualified for double stacking is sold out for my travel dates. Plus, even on other dates, the cost of the hotel after the credit is more than I’m paying for a longer stay at my current hotel with a better location.

Ok, so how about a staycation in the DFW area? Two local hotels qualify for both credits. A weekend stay at Virgin Hotels Dallas would cost us a significant chunk over and above the $500 credit for most 2-night weekend stays that I priced:

The image shows a booking advertisement for Virgin Hotels Dallas. On the left, there is a photo of the hotel building. On the right, details include a 4.5-star rating with 1,059 reviews, a price of $567 per night, and an all-in total of $1,384 or 69,208 points. Benefits listed include daily breakfast for two and a $100 property credit. The hotel is eligible for a loyalty program.

The Kimpton Pittman Hotel in Dallas has weekends with lower prices, but most still require a few hundred dollars out-of-pocket:

The image shows a booking advertisement for the Kimpton Pittman Hotel in Downtown Dallas by IHG. The left side features a photo of the hotel entrance with "The Pittman" sign. The right side displays booking details: a price of $299 per night, a 4.5-star rating with 202 reviews, and benefits like daily breakfast for two and a $100 property credit. The all-in total is $689 or 34,451 points. The hotel is IHG One Rewards eligible.

In the above example, I get that paying $189 for 2 nights at a nice hotel with free breakfast and a $100 dining credit is a great deal. But, we’d still be spending money we wouldn’t have normally spent for a totally optional weekend staycation,

My best bet for maximizing this double-stack credit is by taking a weekend trip to Oklahoma City this fall to visit our son at college. The Omni Oklahoma City is about 30 minutes from my son’s apartment. Our out-of-pocket expenses during a football game weekend would be more reasonable, and this is a trip we are planning to take regardless of hotel credits:

The image shows a listing for the Omni Oklahoma City Hotel. It includes a photo of the hotel building at sunset. The listing highlights a 4-star rating with 310 reviews, a price of $264 per night, and an all-in total of $611. Benefits include daily breakfast for two and a $100 property credit. The hotel is eligible for a loyalty program, and there is a points boost option available.

Bottom Line

These double-stacking hotel credits with the CSR card can be lucrative if you find the optimal way to use them. Personally, I find them hard to maximize without spending more money than I normally would just to get the credits.

CSR cardholders, are you planning to double stack these hotel credits? Where have you found a good place to use these benefits?

Kimpton Margot in Sydney, Australia, was just a shade over $500 for 2 nights this past week. Credits posted properly.
