My Top 5 Travel Experiences of 2025

December 31, 2025 By Nancy Leave a Comment

It’s hard to believe it’s the last day of 2025 already. This year has been full of travel experiences for my family, all thanks to this miles and points hobby. We explored new destinations, and I returned to some places I haven’t visited in many years. This year, I completed my Grand Circle Tour of visiting all 12 Disney Parks in the world!

I don’t regret any trips I took this year (I rarely do!), but it was hard for me to narrow down my favorite travel experiences of 2025. Here they are, in no particular order:

Cruising on Icon of the Seas

In March, my family cruised on Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas over spring break. I love cruising because I don’t have to cook or clean for the entire week, and entertainment is just a short walk down the hall.

While I didn’t use miles and points to pay for the cruise, hotel points and airline miles helped us get to Florida and pay for our pre- and post-cruise accommodations.

Relaxing on Miyajima Island, Japan

My family’s trip to Asia this past summer was epic. While it’s hard to pinpoint just one favorite part of visiting Japan, our two nights on Miyajima Island were definitely memorable.

We used miles and points to book our flights to and from Asia, as well as hotel points for some nights.

Hiking the Great Wall of China

At the end of our trip to Japan, my daughter and I hopped a quick flight to Beijing. Walking on the Great Wall of China was everything I dreamed it would be!

A view of the Great Wall of China, showing a long stretch of stone steps and walls extending into the distance. Several people are walking along the wall, surrounded by lush green hills and forests. The sky is clear, and the scene is brightly lit by sunlight.

Anniversary Trip to Lake Louise

Our better-late-than-never delayed anniversary trip to Banff National Park in Canada was worth the wait! While we splurged on the hotel with a cash rate, we used miles and points to fly to Canada.

A person wearing a black jacket and beanie is taking a photo with a smartphone of a stunning landscape. The scene features a turquoise lake surrounded by tall evergreen trees and rugged mountains with patches of snow under a clear blue sky.

Seeing Extended Family

In 2025, through flights to Colorado and Pennsylvania (Hershey) plus a road trip to South Texas, I saw 10 extended family members who don’t live near us. The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to see family, no matter how close or far. Miles and points helped me pay for these visits.
