Celebrating the 2026-2027 School Calendar Release

November 19, 2025 By Nancy Leave a Comment

This week, my daughter’s school district released the 2026-2027 school calendar. This calendar is something I gleefully anticipate every year! Seriously, it’s like Christmas morning for this travel planner.

Calendar Changes and Takeaways

The big change for my family with this calendar release is that it now only applies to my youngest child. This next school year, both of my sons will be away in college. Their university calendars have not yet been released, so I don’t yet know if our spring breaks will align.

To complicate matters, I work for a local college with its own calendar. So, now we’re dealing with 4 different school calendars. So far, my spring break lines up with my daughter’s.

My daughter has a 5-day fall break again next year (just like this year when we went to Guatemala last month). I’m so excited that this fall break is repeated in next year’s calendar. My husband and I decided that the three of us will go on a 5-night Disney Cruise over that break. The cruise itinerary lines up perfectly with the school break. I already booked award flights to Orlando on American Airlines for 7500 Alaska miles.

In addition, the school district has a 4-day weekend in February that we could potentially take advantage of for a short getaway. There are also a few 3-day weekends.

The school year ends May 14, a week earlier than this school year. And believe it or not, I haven’t thought of 2027 summer travel plans yet. My oldest will be graduating from college and will potentially have a job in another state. I may need to plan a domestic summer trip that’a easier to book on shorter notice.

Overall, I’m happy with the school calendar, and I’m thankful that I can start to plan some trips for the back half of 2026.

Has your school calendar been published yet for the next school year? What are you hoping to plan?

The image shows a calendar page with the days of the week labeled from Sunday to Saturday. Several dates have red push pins on them: the 5th, 11th, 18th, and 26th. The 30th is circled in red.
