Rare Transfer Bonus to Southwest Airlines!

Yesterday, Chase announced a 25% transfer bonus to Southwest Airlines. We haven’t seen this transfer bonus in 5 years!

From October 23, 2025 through 11:59 PM ET November 6, 2025, get 25% transfer bonus from Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Southwest Airlines.

• Minimum transfer is 1000 points.
• Get 1250 Southwest Rapid Rewards points for every 1000 Chase Ultimate Rewards.
• Transfers are usually instant, but may take up to 7 business days
• Point transfers via Ultimate Rewards are not eligible for status, including A-List, A-List Preferred, or Companion Pass^® status.

Is this a good idea? Is this better than booking Southwest flights through the Chase Travel Portal with a Chase Sapphire Preferred card at a 1.5 cents per point redemption?

In my opinion, yes. Southwest Airline’s refund policy is better on flights booked with Southwest Rapid Rewards points. If you cancel at least 10 minutes before your flight,  you can get all your points refunded. With a cash booking, when you book a Wanna Get Away (Basic) fare, you only get a flight credit when you cancel that expires in 6 months.

I’m not going crazy doing speculative transfers during this transfer bonus. But, I am watching some flight prices for next year, and I may take advantage of this transfer bonus in the right circumstances.
