Alaska Airlines & LATAM Partnership Ending: As of October 1 2025, you will no longer be able to use Alaska miles for LATAM award flights. This is obviously a bummer for those wanting to fly to South America on miles. See this post on One Mile at a Time for the details. A similar change is happening between Alaska Airlines and Singapore Airlines (see this post).
Elevated Welcome Offers on Credit Cards: This week, several credit cards have increased welcome offers:
- Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard (75k bonus) (ends today 9/5/25)
- Six Amex Delta Cards (up to 125,000 bonus miles)
- Chase IHG cards (up to 165,000 bonus miles)
- Chase Iberia/British Airways/Aer Lingus cards (85,000 bonus miles)
Flying Blue September Promo Awards: If you’re looking for a deal on economy award flights to Europe, Flying Blue has discounts from 7 U.S. cities. Check out the latest on Frequent Miler.
Alaska Airlines to Add Flights to Iceland: This is great news for travelers who live on the West Coast. Flights from Seattle to Reykjavík will begin next May and run daily through the summer. See the press release here.
Have a fantastic weekend!

Seems like a competition between Alaska/Hawaiian vs JetBlue/United is heating up, especially with Spirit went bankrupt (again). I think we’ll see some improvements from both sides by the end of year, but then Alaska might play devaluation games – they already started to double mileage award prices on most of routes, even domestic! ;((
On the other hand, American Airlines most likely come with pleasant surprises in 2026 to compete with Delta/JetBlue over TA flights (new routes and more open award seats). I’ve also noticed that in hidden move Virgin Atlantic pulled a lot of their flights from Delta award space (most likely due to them wanting to collect more in fees, and Delta charges only $5.60 out of US, – not a fair play.
Happy travels!!
@Aleks I haven’t noticed Alaska’s higher award prices on my searches. 🙁
