I can’t believe my trip to Japan and China is finally here! This trip has been in the planning phase for over two years. While I’m excitedly anticipating everything about this trip, there are a few things I’m looking forward to the most.
Visiting my 11th and 12th Disney Theme Parks
Disney has 12 theme parks around the world, and I’ve already been to 10 of them. On this trip, I will be visiting the last two on my list, Tokyo DisneySea and Shanghai Disneyland. So far, I’ve enjoyed seeing the differences among the parks and appreciating each park’s unique attractions.

Seeing the Great Wall of China
I hadn’t planned on seeing the Great Wall of China on this trip until China relaxed its transit visa policy late last year. The new policy meant that I could add a stop in Beijing before my stop in Shanghai. The wall obviously has a ton of historical significance and I can’t wait to walk on it! If you’re bored and need some humor, read some of the Great Wall’s 1 star reviews on Google.

Relaxing in Miyajima
Our itinerary for this trip is pretty packed. However, I think our two nights on Miyajima Island will be the most relaxing. We’re staying at a hotel with a water view, and we will be able to enjoy the island before and after the day-trippers are there.

Blog posts will be reduced the next few weeks while we are traveling. Follow Miles for Family on Facebook and Instagram for photos of our adventures. See you on the flip side!

Unsure how this plays out today because my China trip was 15 years ago, but try to walk a distance on the Great Wall. Our small hotel hooked us up with a local tour company, they drove us to a rural town along the wall. It goes for miles and miles so there are many sections just running through rural areas. They dropped us off, told us to keep walking east on the wall for a few hours until the next town when they’d meet us. Was amazing, there was a vendor or two selling water/etc but for long stretches we walked the REAL wall which isn’t refurbished and actually crumbling in areas. Top 3 world travel experiences to date for me, see if its still possible versus the cattle call stop at the refurbished tourist sections
