Why I’m Excited EVA Air is Coming to DFW!

April 22, 2025 By Nancy 4 Comments

I just read on One Mile at a Time this morning that EVA Air is launching nonstop flights between DFW and Taipei, Taiwan starting in October 2025. In fact, these flights are already on sale. Why am I so excited??

  • DFW is my home airport, and having another option for nonstop flights from here to Asia is a welcome addition. Recently, Cathay Pacific added a nonstop flight from DFW to Hong Kong. DFW already has nonstop flights to Tokyo on American Airlines and Japan Airlines as well as nonstop flights to Seoul on American Airlines and Korean Air.
  • I’m planning a trip to Thailand, and a stopover in Taipei is more convenient than a stopover in Tokyo or Seoul.
  • EVA Air has a decent Premium Economy cabin, which is my travel sweet spot

You can transfer Citi ThankYou points and Capital One miles to EVA Air for award flights. EVA Air is known for being stingy with partner award availability, so booking through EVA Air directly will yield better results. I’ve never booked an EVA Air award, but I’ve read that it’s challenging to book for multiple people in one account. However, despite that, I’m still excited about this new flight possibility.

Anyone else excited that EVA Air is coming to DFW?

I adore EVA and the more cities they fly to in the USA the better.

@Christian I’ve only heard good things about EVA Air (except for their award booking process for families LOL)

DFW based too. Saw EVA DFW to TPE nonstop on Aeroplan this morning for 87.5k-ish in J but only one seat for dates I looked at. Not brave enough to book directly with EVA using Citi TYPs.

My wife and I are going to Thailand too (I swear we booked before I binge watched White Lotus). Booked DFW to HKG on Cathay Pacific in J nonstop with Finnair points.

Odd thing is Aeroplan has better availability for Cathay Pacific on HKG to Bangkok than AS, AA (30k in J). Emirates also flies their A380 between those cities.

@Peter Glad you found those seats on Cathay Pacific with points! That is my top option for getting to Thailand when my dates go for sale.
