My family relies on miles and points earned through credit card rewards to drastically reduce the price of our vacations. If you’re new to this hobby, read Beginner’s Guide: 7 Steps to Free Travel with Miles and Points. Currently, several credit cards have elevated sign-up bonuses. Before you apply for a card, see this post for bank application rules to ensure your best chance of getting approved.
Capital One Venture Rewards Card 75k miles +$250
The Capital One Venture Rewards Card (affiliate link) is a card I often recommend to beginners in this miles and points travel hobby. The current bonus is 75,000 miles +$250 in travel credits after spending $4000 in the first 3 months. $95 annual fee. You can use Capital One miles to erase travel purchases from your credit card statement or transfer to hotel and airline partners. See this post for more info. Note: Some card owners report having a 100k-mile referral offer. However, my husband tried to apply through a link and after inputting his info was directed back to the above offer. So YMMV.
Bank of America Air France/KLM Flying Blue Mastercard 70k miles
The Bank of America Air France/KLM Flying Blue Mastercard (non-affiliate link) has an elevated bonus of 70,000 Flying Blue miles after spending $3000 in the first 90 days. The offer also includes 100 XP (Experience Points) toward status. $89 annual fee. Both my husband and I have had this card to earn miles for trips to Europe.
Barclays Wyndham Rewards Earner+ Card 90k points
Earn 90,000 Wyndham Rewards points after spending $2000 within the first 90 days on the Barclays Wyndham Rewards Earner+(non-affiliate link) card.$75 annual fee. This is enough to get several free hotel nights.
American Express Hilton: Up to 175k points
The Amex Hilton credit cards currently have elevated signup bonuses, which we usually see a few times each year. See this link for the details (both non-affiliate and affiliate links). Limited time offer ends 4/29/25. The no-fee Amex Hilton Honors Card has 75k points bonus plus a free night after spending $2000 in the first 6 months, while the Amex Hilton Honors Surpass card has 130k bonus points plus a free night with $150 annual fee (offset by up to $200 in Hilton purchase credits). I’ve used Hilton Honors points from these credit cards to stay in a variety of hotels across the USA and in Europe.
Amex Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards: Up to 100k Miles on personal cards (110k on Business)
Six cards in the Amex Delta SkyMiles family have elevated bonuses, which we see periodically. See this link, Offers ends 4/2/25. These miles are more useful if you live near a Delta hub.
Chase IHG One Rewards Cards: Up to 170k points
Both IHG personal cards have increased bonuses through March 19, 2025. The Premier version ($99 fee) has a bonus of 170,000 points after spending $4000 within the first 3 months. This card comes with an annual free night certificate on your card anniversary. The Traveler version (no annual fee) has a bonus offer of 100,000 points after spending $2000 in the first 3 months. While we don’t have direct affiliate links for these cards, we do get credit if you sign up through our partner app, Travel Freely. My husband and I both own the Premier version and use our anniversary free nights every year.
This is not an exhaustive list of credit card offers. See this link for more offers, and let me know if you have questions about any cards.
