One of my favorite credit cards that I recommend for beginners in this miles and points travel hobby has an increased welcome offer for a limited time!
Capital One Venture Rewards Card
The Capital One Venture Rewards Card (affiliate link) currently has a bonus of 75,000 miles +$250 travel credit.
- Get 75,000 bonus miles plus a one-time $250 Capital One travel credit after spending $4000 in the first 3 months
- Earn 2X miles on all purchases
- $95 annual fee
- Miles are very easy to spend, as you can use them to erase any purchase coded as travel from your credit card statement
- Miles can be even more valuable when you transfer to Capital One’s 19 transfer partners:
- Aeromexico Club Premier
- Air Canada Aeroplan®
- Avianca LifeMiles
- British Airways Executive Club
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
- Emirates Skywards
- Etihad Guest
- EVA Air
- Finnair Plus
- Flying Blue
- Qantas Frequent Flyer
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
- TAP Miles&Go
- Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- Virgin Red
- JetBlue
- Choice Privileges
- Wyndham Rewards
- ALL Accor Live
I own this card, and my college son is an authorized user on it as well. I love the simplicity of the miles accumulation. While the bonus is normally 75k miles, this added $250 travel credit makes the offer a bit sweeter.
More things to know:
- You can only have two Capital One personal cards at a time, and you won’t be eligible for the bonus if you’ve received it on the same card within the last 48 months. See this post for more information.
- If you have a spouse or partner in your household, you can both apply for the card separately and get two welcome bonuses to use for your family travel. This is known as two-player mode. See Beginner’s Guide: 7 Steps to Free Travel with Miles and Points for more information.
- Remember, it’s best to charge your regular budgeted bills on a credit card and pay it off in full every month in order to avoid interest charges.
Examples of how you can spend 75k Capital One miles
While the bonus is 75,000 miles, after you spend the $4000 on the card to get the bonus you will actually have 83,000 miles. There are so many possibilities!
- Stay at Great Wolf Lodge or Kalahari Resort and use miles to reimburse your stay (up to $830)
- Transfer miles to Air France/KLM Flying Blue program and fly from USA to Europe round-trip in Premium Economy for 80k miles
- Transfer miles to British Airways and book an award flight on Iberia in business class from Chicago to Madrid round-trip for 68,000 miles
- Transfer miles to Wyndham Rewards and spend a weekend at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico
If you plan to apply for this card, please use our affiliate link instead of going directly to Capital One’s website to apply. We do get a small commission from our links that helps us keep writing this blog. Thank you!

i don’t understand…i applied for this card and they told me i was denied because my credit score was too low. I have 787 score!
@Sara did you call the reconsideration line? Or was that in an email? For some reason, Capital One can be picky about approvals.
Yes it’s a nice bonus offer and decent benefits for $95 annual fee card. I might consider to get it for the bonus and keep for few years. I think Avios and Wyndham points are the best options for my usage, as Air Canada is devaluing soon.
