This is a continuation of my Hong Kong trip report. See my previous blog posts about this trip: Hong Kong Highlights, Review: China Airlines Business Class Ontario to Taipei to Hong Kong,Review: United Airlines Business Class Hong Kong to San Francisco, Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui, Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car to the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery, Pandas, Roller Coasters and Spectacular Views at Hong Kong’s Ocean Park
On our recent trip to Hong Kong, I decided to splurge on two nights at Disney Explorers Lodge. With a 30% promo rate, I scored a sea-view room for just $258 per night.
Arrival/Lobby/Park Transportation
We took an Uber from Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui to Disney Explorers Lodge. It felt like a world away from the busy city.
The carport:
The hotel’s motto is “to explore and dream”, and the decor reminds me of a mix of Aulani, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge.
We had no wait at the check-in desk on a Monday in November. Even though we arrived early, our room was ready.
The adventure theme is prevalent throughout the building. I loved how the suitcases under the Christmas tree are labeled for other Disney destinations, both real and fictional:
Binocular hallway lights:
The elevators are designed to resemble hot air balloons:
Bus transportation to the park is just outside the front door. We never had a long wait. Hotel guests also had a special line at the park entrance which was much shorter than the public access lines.
Our Room at Disney Explorers Lodge
We stayed in a sea-view room with two beds. The room was large and bright and could fit up to 4 people.
Open closet:
Bathroom:
Coffee/tea maker:
Adventure theme on beds:
The desk included an adventure log:
But the best part of the room was the view!
The beds were comfortable, and the room had USB charging ports as well as plus adapters/converters.
Pool and Hotel Grounds
Walking around the resort truly felt like we were in paradise.
While we didn’t make time to enjoy the pool, it looked lovely.
The path behind the hotel followed the water and lead to the two other Disney hotels:
I loved the touches of Mickey on the paths:
If we had more time, I would have loved to spend more time walking around the resort grounds.
Dining at Disney Explorers Lodge
Disney Explorers Lodge has 3 restaurants plus room service. We ate at the quick-serve restaurant, Chart Room Cafe, once for breakfast and once for a late dinner.
The food was quick and Mickey-themed:
On our last morning, before we headed to the airport, we dined at Dragon Wind for the character breakfast buffet.
The food selection was excellent. Western dishes, a huge dim sum assortment…
Mickey-head hash browns and explorer cupcake:
We enjoyed the experience, and stuffed ourselves silly.
Other Amenities
Disney Explorers Lodge offered games, crafts, movies and pool activities during our stay. We prioritized the park, so we didn’t participate. The hotel also had an indoor play room, Nemo’s Recreation Reef. We took a quick peek inside:
Overall Thoughts
Staying at Disney Explorers Lodge was the icing on the cake to our fabulous trip to Hong Kong. The grounds were beautiful, the theming was on point, the room was comfortable and the location was convenient to the park. I have no regrets splurging on this resort.
